Los colegios jesuitas en la Nueva España estaban dedicados al cultivo de las humanidades y a la investigación científica y tecnológica. En sus aulas, confluían los saberes de una institución de horizontes planetarios y se desarrollaba una actividad artística en torno a un proyecto estético de alcances universales.
Jesuit Colleges. Jesuit colleges in New Spain were devoted to the study of the humanities as well as scientific and technological research. Their academic achievements were enhanced by the order’s global presence, and led to the development of an art whose aesthetics aspired to universality.
